| New to the site?
You can join the user group and receive regular updates. We are currently looking for a place to host the user group so if you have any suggestions we would love to know.

| Sharepoint Backups I want to thank Sharee for hosting last nights SharePoint User Group meeting. The topic of backups is a very important area that is still largely undefined. It was great to see the three products.
I would like to pose some questions to the larger group that I also asked last night.
What solution/product are you using to backup your SharePoint environment?
How has it performed?
Personally I have used the built in tool but it's limited specifically in the areas of granular recovery, scheduling, retention/cleanup, and integration with enterprise backups.
I have also used EMC Networker product called Backup Manager for SharePoint. It's actually separate from Networker so there's no integration. They touted both a granular and a farm/sitecollection level backup. At time of purchase (Sept 08) they had a bug that failed the granular backup. It took two months (and lots of our engineer time) for them to admit to the bug. They found it related to the last major Sharepoint Update that was about a year old. That told us they either had no customers using this or none of their customers have updated their SharePoint with that service update. They fixed it and it started running. It was painful using their support and the product left a lot to be desired. It was also costly. I don't recommend it.
So how about you all? | |

| Lookup From Filtered List It is usually asked whether how can we lookup from a filtered list. For instance, lookup countries from list but you want filter state, then you definitely need this tool called Sharepoint Cascaded Lookup from http://www.sharepointboost.com/cascaded-lookup.html | |

| Interesting article on use of folders in SharePoint Althought I agree fully with Sharee that we should try to avoid the use of folders in SharePoint, there is a compelling argument (due to performance issues and limitation on numbers of documents supported in Doc Library) that may be sufficient justification for using a folder content type as discussed in the following article (a good read!):
Enjoy!

| Recommended ISPs We have a site hosted on one of our companies own servers, but we aren't an ISP, and would like to get it on something better.
Any recommendations for a reliable, responsive WSS host?

| SharePoint Summit 2010 - Montreal Has anyone had any experience with "SharePoint Summit"?
Here's a link to their site: SharePoint Summit 2010
I'm considering going, but their cheapest rate is $1,395, and that doesn't give one access to any of the workshops... those are $150 each, assuming one can get in.

| Anyone using DPM 2010 to backup SharePoint 07-10 Greetings,
I am currently using DPM 2007 to backup SharePoint 07. I am not at happy with the results and am thinking of upgrading to DPM 2010 after reading about a few of the improvements.
Anyone using it? Is it better than DPM 2007? Is it worse? concerns?
Thank you :) | |
